De-professionalise or disinfect?

Uniform for doctors?

Uniform is creeping in for doctors across the country. Juniors in many hospitals have been asked to dress like nurses (and we turned a blind eye) and in The West Middlesex hospital in London consultants, yes that's right consultants have been told that they will be required to wear a uniform consisting of blue polyester trousers and green polyester polo shirt. Other than the fact that I would love to see some of my orthopaedic colleagues response to this demand it strikes me as rather un-professional.

Does nobody know that blue and green should never be seen?

It is simply a way of making us all feel like drones, tiny cogs in a much more important machine. The NHS needs to remember that we are the talent. If there were only doctors or medical students we could still run the labs, kitchens, do the nursing, pass the surgical instruments, run pharmacy.

Hold on we might struggle to meet our promoting diversity target.

Will the managers be giving up their suits and wear a uniform, will they my arse.

Just say no.

Damn impertinence.
